In the remote corners of Himachal Pradesh, women are often the backbone of society. They manage households, collect firewood, tend to farms, and raise children — often without any support or recognition. Yet, despite these hardships, women in the hills have always been resilient. At Pahad Trust, we believe that when women are empowered, entire communities thrive.

Women-Led Ventures Making a Difference We’ve seen firsthand how small changes can lead to big transformations. Through training programs and micro-financing, we’ve helped local women launch herbal soap businesses, honey bee farming, and handicraft ventures. These projects not only provide income but also preserve traditional knowledge and reduce dependence on harmful industries.

Skill Building and Financial Independence Our workshops teach skills such as organic farming, stitching, and digital literacy. Women who once had no access to education are now running businesses and teaching others. With financial independence comes confidence, voice, and the ability to make informed choices for their families.

Real Stories from the Hills Like Sunita Devi from Tandi village, who now employs five other women in her herbal tea business. Or Meena, who became the first woman in her village to attend a state-level training program. These are not just success stories — they are the beginning of a new, more equitable future.

Why This Matters When women are uplifted, communities become stronger, more resilient, and better stewards of the land. Empowerment is not just a women’s issue — it’s a societal one. And in the hills, it’s also an environmental one.

Let’s continue to support the women who are healing both their homes and their forests.
